NewsJohnny Flynn & The Sussex Wit release 'The Box'Johnny Flynn is a proper, feature-worthy curio, more so than a modern day indie star has any right to be. One minute he?s revealing that his old man was in 'The Avengers', the next that, as a youngster, he used to work on a fishing boat and then that last night he performed with his band at the Royal Albert Hall. A few moments in his company, then, is enough to know that Master Flynn, 24 years old, will be keeping our attention for quite some time. And that's before even hearing his music. After releasing two acclaimed 7"s on Young & Lost Club and wowing crowds from Buffalo Bar To Bestival, from the End Of The Road Festival to the Astoria this summer, Johnny Flynn is ready to step things up a gear with the release of 'The Box', his debut single for Vertigo. Evocative and accessible, touching the heart whilst insisting that you move your feet, 'The Box' is a clear signal that an important new artist has arrived. Live Johnny Flynn & The Sussex Wit are a sight to behold - think Nick Drake fronting The Pogues at the Underage Festival and you're nearly there. After a Summer of rapturously received festival performances, this Autumn will be spent touring with Jack Penate and Iron & Wine, before heading out to Seattle to record their debut album with Ryan Hadlock who has previously worked with The Gossip, The Strokes and Regina Spektor. The Killers gear up for US outing The Killers are set to hit the road in the US and Canada with their second outing to support 'Sam's Town'. The band will kick off the tour in Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Colorado and will visit several mid-west and southern cities, with a quick step into Canada for the Virgin Festival. Having recently become a dadddy, Brandon Flowers will soon resume work with his band with the release of their new single 'Read My Mind' for which they recently shot a video. |
